Reliable dosing and minimized space requirements
Camden Waste Water Treatment Plant needed a more reliable and safer dosing operation than the previous selected solutions. To meet their needs, we worked closely with the consulting engineer and assisted with the selection of the most advantageous and suitable Flowrox™ metering pumps in a wall mount packaged pumping systems.
The waste water treatment plant in Camden, USA, was faced with a challenge. Change in mediums for disinfection and de-chlorination included the construction of a new building which could fit all chemical feed equipment in one place.
In a nutshell
Customer: Camden Waste Water Treatment Plant, USA
Products: Flowrox metering pumps in a wall mount packaged pumping systems.
Process application: Improvements to the wastewater treatment plant
Benefits: Simple to use, compact, easy to install, accurate and ensure repeatable flow, increased operational environment safety
Industry challenge: reliable dosing and minimum space requirements
The customer decided to improve its operations by replacing gas chlorine with liquid sodium hypochlorite as the disinfection and capton as the de-chlorination method. The change included construction of a new building that included new tanks and chemical feed equipment. New installation meant space savings was a requirement to fit all the equipment into one building.
Close cooperation for best solutions
As Valmet's flow control specialists we aim to meet every customer’s needs and offer expert advice every step of the way. Already in the design stages, the consulting engineer worked alongside the local Flowrox products' representative to ensure selection of the most advantageous Flowrox metering pumps. Considering all customer’s requirements, we recommended two sets of Flowrox™ metering pumps in a wall mount packaged pumping systems.
Minimal space requirements, maximum safety and reliability
Flowrox metering pumps proved to be the best choice. Wall mount packaged systems kept the space requirements minimal while providing optimal pipeline alignment. Regardless of compact design, it ensures improved safety with integrated spill containment basin built in to the packaged system. Furthermore, the solution proved to execute more reliable dosing operation than the previous selected one. Peristaltic pumps also offer the customer more availability than diaphragm pumps due to the ability to pump through air or off-gassing as well as scaling that is present in sodium hypochlorite pumping.
After successfully delivering and installing the pumping systems, the customer recommended that the engineers specify the Flowrox metering pumps for the second site that has been delivered and commissioned.
Expert knowledge paired with decades of experience
In wastewater industry there are over 18,000 Flowrox valves and pumps installed in over hundreds of municipal/industrial wastewater treatment plants across the globe. Metering pump solutions in waste water process applications can be also found in various chemical dosing systems like metallic salts, sodium hypochlorite and its derivates and many more.
The end result
The robust design and the easy-to-use pump controls resulted in a seamless installation for the contractor. With integrated spill containment basin and hose leak detection the system helps to eliminate chemical spills. At the same time the wall mount packaged systems kept the space requirements minimal while providing optimal pipeline alignment and meet all requirements of Camden Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Flowrox™ heavy duty pinch valves
Flowrox PV, PVE and PVE/S heavy duty pinch valves are designed for shut off and control applications involving abrasive or corrosive slurries, powders or granular substances. In the open position, the valve is full bore with no flow restrictions. During closing, two pinch bars squeeze the valve sleeve shut on the center line. Bubble tight shut-off is provided even if solids have built up on the sleeve wall.

Flowrox™ PVG and PVEG pinch valves
Flowrox PVG and PVEG pinch valves are robust and cost effective with simple, single-sided closing mechanism. PVG valve has a strong valve body and opening tags in the sleeve as a standard. PVEG valve has a corrosion resistant and light-weight plastic body. Through the reliability and structure, both kinds of valves offer substantial savings based on improved performance, long service lifetime and low total cost of ownership. Flowrox PVG and PVEG valves are ideal for low cycle applications involving abrasion, corrosion and aggressive slurries

Flowrox™ slurry knife gate valves
Heavy duty slurry knife gate valve isolates flow even in the most demanding process conditions. The bi-directional flow tolerates backflow and elastomer sleeves on both sides of the gate provide tight shut off. Flowrox knife gate valve follows the concept of the ease of maintenance. The valve body is cast in one piece which eliminates the need for sealing between the body halves. Load distribution ring is integrated into the valve sleeves. The valve contains only two service parts; ring sleeves and secondary seal.

Outstanding performance and zero maintenance with reliable Flowrox pinch valves
Reliable Flowrox™ high performance PVE pinch valves proved to be a perfect solution for a power generation water treatment plant located in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Six years after the installation of PVE pinch valves in power generation plant no maintenance has been required.

Valve management service provides production reliability for maintenance shutdowns at Outokumpu’s steel plant
The Outokumpu steel plant is an impressive sight next to the Gulf of Bothnia in Tornio. Despite being Outokumpu’s largest plant, it is very compact with everything close by. The plant produces stainless steel, and its history dates back to the 1960s. Its cooperation with Neles has spanned decades. “Cooperation has always been key,” says Aleksi Korteniemi, Category Manager, Outokumpu.
